Branwell Lane (EN) / Bownder Branwell (KW)

‘Branwell’ is a family name – ‘R & M Branwell and Sons’ Flour Mill at Gulval. It closed in 1903. One of the Branwells (Maria) was the mother of the Bronte sisters (plaque on a house in Chapel Street). J.R. Branwell built “Penlee” c.1865; now the Penlee House Museum, with its grounds becoming Penlee Park.
